Características clínico-epidemiológicas y manejo de las malformaciones arteriovenosas cerebrales en el Servicio de Neurocirugía del Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño San Borja, 2015-2017

Objetive: To describe the clinical-epidemiological characteristics and management of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformations (cAVM) in patients treated at San Borja National Institute Child Health (SB – NICH). Materials methods: Retrospective, descriptive study diagnosed with cAVM SB - NICH from 2015–2017. Data was processed analyzed version 22 SPSS software. Qualitative variables were expressed absolute relative frequencies. Results: 41 cases identified, being more frequent group between 6-12 years age (56.1%) female sex (65.9%). Ruptured occurred 56.7% cases. Headache (92.7%) predominant clinical manifestation. The anatomical areas highest occurrence cAMV frontal lobe (36.6%) left cerebral hemisphere (51.2%). most common Spetzler-Martín grade III (43.9%). main treatment modality embolization (39%). Mortality 2.4%. Conclusions: 6 to 12-year-old suffer cAVM. A little than half had a ruptured is manifestation this disease. Spetzler-Martin III. Embolization used surgical method. low.
